What are your qualifications?

I hold a B. Sc. (Hons) degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy,
as well as a Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy. I am a fully accredited member of the IACP (Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and am Garda vetted.

What are your opening hours?

I work in the mornings and evenings, Monday to Thursday.

How long is a session?

Each session lasts 50 minutes.

How much is each session?

Each session costs 60 euros.

How long will therapy last?

Therapy is unique to the individual. It will take 3 - 4 sessions to get an understanding for the client’s story and the direction they wish to proceed in. The termination of counselling is also a choice that the individual needs to make for themselves.

What is the difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy?

Counselling can be seen as dealing with a specific issue in the short to mid term and how the client is dealing with same. Psychotherapy is often viewed as deeper work to challenge the outlook of the individual’s personality. The two terms are often interchangeable as there can be some overlap.

Do I need a referral from a medical health professional to attend counselling?

No. If you feel that counselling could benefit you, you can arrange an initial consultation with the counsellor yourself.

Who is counselling for?

Counselling can be for anyone who is struggling with life issues, relationship issues etc. Once you make the initial contact with the counsellor, it is important that are qualified and have the necessary experience to work with you and also that you feel the partnership could be effective in moving you forward.

Is counselling confidential?

Yes, all counselling is confidential. Under extreme situations, confidentiality may have to be broken and this is discussed fully during the first session.
